If you are like me, when you sit down to read a book you frequently have a yummy drink in hand. I like creating my own beverages and am constantly experimenting to see what I can come up with. I saw this recipe for Pumpkin Spice Hot Chocolate (or mocha or whatever-you-please), tweaked it and came up with something I enjoyed (from the ingredients I had on hand). Really, the recipe as-is is perfect-o (I'm sure). But I didn't have everything that it called for. That, and I consider recipes suggestions.)
My version is as follows (note: these measurements are not the least bit scientific):
Pumpkin Spice Latte
1/8 tsp. of cloves
1/8 tsp. of nutmeg
1 tsp-ish of agave
1 tsp. dark unsweetened cocoa
1 cup(ish) of almond milk
1/2 cup (ish!) of pumpkin coffee (that I found at Target)
= YUMMY!
Now, I am actually a fan of cold drinks and avoid hot ones consistently. Even in the dead of winter I'll choose an iced anything over a steaming-hot-burn-your-tongue sort of drink. So, to avoid having to wait every day for my "latte" to chill or at least reach room temperature again, I tripled the recipe and am storing the contents in a mason jar in my fridge. This will last me for a good 3-4 days and by then I'll be ready to create something different. For now, I'm enjoying this! Thought you might also.
* Note: the mug in the picture above is indeed mine. The tea bag indicates that I had a head cold this past weekend and that is about the only thing that will drive me to a hot cup of tea. Otherwise it's always iced because I'm from Texas and we do not do tea without ice down South!

Sounds yummy! I've only recently begun sort-of drinking coffee. (Sheesh! I must be getting old!). For the record, we ONLY drink hot tea for our poetry tea times--sweet iced tea is definitely the drink of choice in AL!
I LOVE that mug!
I just can't get into flavored coffee. The thought of liquid pumpkin flavor almost nauseates me. I hear it is pretty popular, though. I do like plain decaf, with a bit of Coffeemate, during cold weather or when I am eating something sweet.
I've never gotten into hot tea, either. I grew up drinking iced tea. Sometimes I wish I could learn to like it - but not enough to keep trying it. :-)
Hot chocolate is pretty much the only hot drink you'll catch me drinking! :)
I consider recipes suggestions also. I rarely (if ever!) follow a recipe exactly, much to the chagrin of some family members. Ha!
I don't like coffee, but this sounds yummy. I've made MomAdvice's version of a pumpkin spice latte when friends come over, and it's been a hit.
@Barbara - Goodwill! My favorite place. :D I couldn't resist it!
@Shonya - Yes. I WILL drink hot chocolate from time to time. But I never think to so it doesn't cross my mind. However, once a year I do enjoy it. (I REALLY enjoy Trader Joe's Peppermint Chocolate mix. SO DELICIOUS.)
Ooh, I have to try your drink. Sounds yummy! I love pumpkin everything. ;)
Mmmm! I like the mug too.
