Fall Break

Taking a short fall break this week due to general busyness. I'll be back around these parts next week.

In the meantime, if you are just dying to read some book reviews, here's a few that I've read that I thought looked particularly interesting.

Amy at Hope is in the Word recently read Contentment, by Richard A. Swenson, M.D. (Title linked to her thoughts.) She has since declared that it's probably going to rank as one of her top favorite books of the year and its one that every Christian should read. I should probably do so then . . .

Annette at This Simple Home read Ever After: Life Lessons Learned in my Castle of Chaos based on Bluerose's Heart's high recommendation. Both of these ladies highly recommend the read.

On the last What's On Your Nightstand, Susan at Girls in White Dresses posted some brief thoughts on the book Living Oprah. When I read her blurb about the book I wasn't sure what to think about the it. After mulling over it, I've decided that Living Oprah might be among the worst challenges you can possibly give to yourself. (The fear of the Lord being the beginning of wisdom. Oprah not being mentioned.) At any rate, I think it's a book worth being aware of and so I've linked the title to Susan's thoughts so that you can see what you think. (And, of course, I'm interested in hearing your thoughts should you have any to share on that topic!)

Have a great week!

Thank you for the shout out! And yes, a sense of dread overtakes me at the mere thought of devoting a year to following anything Oprah says. Interesting concept, but that's as far as I'll take it :)

I hope you're enjoying your time off!

I read pieces of the Living Oprah blog before it was a book and thought it was rather interesting. Oprah's advice, when taken as a whole, ends up being contradictory - live simply but you MUST have this particular product. The book is on my to-read list because I'm familiar with the blog and liked the author's writing style. But I don't think Oprah is a good person to use as the only source of one's advice...
