Takes roughly 1 hour to read out loud. We would take turns. The story is hilarious and moving. Nice tradition.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31647067.post-45526329878071674742015-12-08T15:28:04.499-08:002015-12-08T15:28:04.499-08:00We enjoyed reading this book aloud as well. I do that only very, very rarely!Shonyahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04310547848215492736noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31647067.post-48773151902915821352015-12-08T12:51:29.621-08:002015-12-08T12:51:29.621-08:00I appreciate you sharing your thoughts on this. I remember watching the movie multiple times growing up.*carrie*https://www.blogger.com/profile/10545859613596796648noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31647067.post-70607743653282745732015-12-08T11:22:12.689-08:002015-12-08T11:22:12.689-08:00I have never read this. I saw a made-for-TV movie of it once and didn't care for it, but the book is almost always better. :-) Plus there is more time to develop things in a book. I would be concerned about the same issues in reading to children. It's realistic that kids not raised in church would say such things - we've had neighborhood kids that we've had to ask not to say certain words - but like you say, there is no need to introduce that to kids before necessary.Barbara H.http://barbarah.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.com
