Restrictions

I finally reached the cut off. I am not allowed to BUY any more books until I READ some of the ones that I've already bought but haven't read. My husband is afraid that my list of books purchased will exceed my list of books read in 2007 if I keep this up.

So I have a goal. At the end of this month our local library is having its annual used book sale to raise money for the facility. I must read 10 books that I own before then so that I can go and buy more there.

Ten books in February that I OWN. Not ones borrowed (that stack is large as well), not ones checked out from the library. Thankfully I own the Bookfest selections for this month so they count!

I MUST work through my bookshelves!

You are cracking me up!! We are a Navy family and we nearly went over out weight limit because of my library!! I, too, have a stack of books that demand to be read. We ought to challenge each other.

Oh Carrie, I am right there with you! I made a commitment in January to not buy a single book until March 1st. I have SO many on my shelves that I haven't read yet, but I just keep buying! So far, so good, but it is so tempting to swing by the bookstore and pick something up.

Oh no! I just looked at the books you've already read this year. You are blazing quite the trail. I've finished...one.
Reading your list is a challenge in itself!
A challenge for me would be to read only one book at a time. Hence, why my finish rate is so low.

((sigh)) You inspire.

Oooh--exciting. I'm sort of trying to restrain my buying for the same reason, but I don't have such an ambitious goal of 10 books this month.

Yes, that is our problem as well. I have channeled all my buying obsession into books for the children. Easy to read and no guilt. How are you doing with the goal. 10 books. At this point I can't imagine getting through more than 4.
