Booking Through Thursday

From Booking Through Thursday: A weekly meme about books and reading.

This week's question is: There was a widely bruited-about statistic reported last week, stating that 1 in 4 Americans did not read a single book last year. Clearly, we don’t fall into that category, but . . . how many of our friends do? Do you have friends/family who read as much as you do? Or are you the only person you know who has a serious reading habit?

(You can read the article in question here.

I think MOST (if not all) of my friends are readers. I always said I couldn't marry a non-reader and I didn't. He and his siblings all read voraciously (as far as I can determine)! My parents and sibling all read A LOT. I come from a long line of readers. Naturally I gravitate towards the same type.

I could never let whether a person read (or NOT) affect my friendship or relationship.
My husband is a dear sweet man who never had the advantages most of us take for granted. In spite of this he succeeded with his own business, and established a wonderful reputation.
He envies my reading and loves to be read to.
( Similarly,I would hate to make hasty assumptions about anyone)

It's always great to have family members/friends to share out passion for reading, and although mine don't, I'm glad they understand my passion and support me which I appreciate it very much.

Also, this is another reason why I love book blogs so much.

Hmm. I think perhaps you misunderstood my entry. I'm not critizing those who do not read. I'm merely saying that I gravitate towards those who do. Bear that in mind.

As crazy as I am about books (and have passed this on to my DD!), I find it interesting that I married a man who does not read, from a family of people who do not read. Certainly my in-laws contribute to those terrible stats!

Isn't it wonderful to associate with people you can share with -- I love nothing more than to talk about a good book :-)

Thanks for visiting earlier.

My hubby is a reader gone busy; He loves to read, he has books of his own and he desires to read but with his job he does alot of mandatory reading that leaves little to no room for "wanna reads".
Most people I know like to read but there are only three or four people that have the life pumping,gotta-haveta-WILL read" personality quirk that I have.

One of the things that first interested me in my husband was that he loved the written word as much as I do. So, I understand what you mean about being drawn to readers like yourself. :-) It's one of the many common interests we share and I cannot imagine it ever being otherwise.
