Booking Through Thursday

This week's questions on Booking Through Thursday are:

What is your earliest memory of a library? Who took you? Do you have you any funny/odd memories of the library?

My earliest memory of the library is probably at the age of 3 or 4. My mom always took my brother and I to the library for as long as I can remember. I remember this trip at age 3 (or thereabouts) being interesting because my mom had a hard time finding the library. I think we had just moved to a new town. (Obviously she had her priorities straight about locating the most important buildings in town!)

For some reason I remember my mom being annoyed because the librarian was very unhelpful in helping us locate the children's section. I remember that it was tucked away on the second floor and there wasn't a whole, whole lot to look at. I thought the building was frightening.

My opinions of libraries grew and changed though and I learned to love them. My brother and I each had our own canvas bag that we took and filled with books at every visit. Good memories beyond the first. That was merely the introduction.

Sorry your introduction wasn't pleasant as mine. I'm happy for you that your library experiences got better.

My mom had a similar experience with her first trip to the library. She made mine a little better.

Our Children's library is in the basement our library. But luckily we've had some local artists paint nice murals and other things to liven it up.

I've always made it a priority to visit the library whenever I move to a new town. I usually have a new library card before I even change my address on the driver liscence.
