I'll be putting up the post with Mr. Linky to kick off the Lucy Maud Montgomery Reading Challenge tonight at 10:30 p.m. PST. So I've got to get my OWN challenge post up and ready to go! =DAs a reminder - the challenge starts by just committing to it. You don't actually have to read anything. Yet. Tomorrow (or later tonight!), come and leave a link to your blog site or to an introductory post about the Lucy Maud Montgomery Reading Challenge. Then I'm giving you a whole month to read one book by Montgomery, or all of them! You can read a few short stories, a biography or even watch the movies! The point of this challenge is to learn about Montgomery. You can do as little or as much as you like. On January 30th I'll put up a concluding Mr. Linky at which point you can link up all of your posts about Montgomery that you have written up during the entire month of January.
The only thing I really ask is that if you participate in this challenge, you take some time to visit around with the other people who have been reading into Montgomery's world. Don't just make this all about you but share the journey (mostly to) Prince Edward Island with others. It's more fun that way!
As for what I am planning on reading during the month of January (I had a hard time choosing!), I've narrowed it down to the following:
1. The Poetry Of Lucy Maud Montgomery
2. The Selected Journals of L.M. Montgomery, Vol. 1: 1889-1910
3. Maud: The Life of L.M. Montgomery, the creator of the world of Anne of Green Gables
4. The Story Girl
That's it for starters anyway. We'll see what I get to and what I might add on to that. For now, that's where I'm headed! I can't wait to see what the rest of you have planned!

Wow! That's quite an ambitious list. I've already started Jane of Lantern Hill, and I'm really enjoying it. I read a lot of her biography during my undergraduate and graduate education because I managed to do two research papers on her and her works, but I've forgotten most of what I knew. I'm looking forward to reading your posts.
Maybe I could get more reading done if I didn't read blogs so much! : )
I'm so glad I found this 'challenge' I love the Anne books and have read them until half the pages are missing, maybe this will encourage me to branch out into more Montgomery books!
We'll be reading The Story Girl together. I have LMM's poetry linked online. I use it on my blog quite often. I have also read all the journals - very interesting but also quite sad.
I have a book called The Years Before Anne - by an old Uni prof of my husband's. I'll try to add that to my LMM list if time permists. As well, I have a new book called Magic Island : the fictions of L.M. Montgomery /by Waterston, Elizabeth, 1922- on request at the library.

I guess I am a dim wit or something...I didn't realize till yesterday that most of her books are out of print!? Guess I need to go Amazon-shopping! And of course, since I could not find her, I ended picking up an Historical Narrative (VERY good book so far!) and that will also keep me occupied.
Is it bad that I CANNOT leave a bookstore empty-handed!?
I finished the first volumes of her journals earlier this winter. I really enjoyed them and was amazed at how similar her life was (in many ways) to what she wrote. Sometimes I forgot that I was reading her journal and not one of her books. I found other aspects of them very interesting, too, but I want to wait until I hear what you thought after you've read them!
