Disneyland

Ok, it's Friday and it's been a long week. Let's take a break from the books, the reading and whatever else and just relax, right? Anyone else as ready for the weekend as I am!?

Last week we were out of town. My husband had a business trip down to the LA area and so we accompanied him for an eight day trip to the land of traffic and smog. (Well, there were some finer points, excepting those things.) I really don't like Southern California. (My weak apologies to those of you who might live there.) This was my husband's motto by the end of the week: "Southern California. Drive more. Live Less." Give me green, calm, and cool Oregon any day of the week, thank you very much!

But California does boast one thing that Oregon does not. Disneyland. Yes, folks, we too have succumbed to the magic of the castle and followed the mouse ears into Walt's Kingdom. And we had a lot of fun doing it. It was the highlight of the trip for me, made even more meaningful, I am sure, because I read this book about Walt Disney. It was SO COOL to walk through the magic kingdom knowing not only the history behind it, but the history of its creator. Amazing, amazing thing. It was awesome to see how Walt's imagination has seriously brought so much pleasure to so many. I underestimated his influence until we were there. Wow! So alright already - the pictures! I don't make a habit of sharing our family's personal pictures but this time I'm gonna make an exception. Don't get used to it but feel free to enjoy it this time 'round. ha!

We went as a family of five, adding my two sister-in-laws to the mix. They consented to spend an ENTIRE WEEK in one hotel room with a two year old. I'm not sure if it was insanity on all parts or what. We probably wouldn't do something like this again for that long a period, but we all survived in such close quarters and we had a good trip.

This is me and my sister-in-law on the tram going into Disneyland. I'm the older looking one holding the stroller and looking all mom-ish. This will be one of the only pictures you see of me, primarily because it was at the beginning of the day when we're all looking full of energy and fresh and all that.

Guess who? We rode the Winnie the Pooh ride EIGHT TIMES. Count 'um. EIGHT! At one point, when there wasn't much of a line to speak of, the ride attendants just let us stay seated which was really nice and the only reason we wrote this ride EIGHT TIMES.

Afterwards we met our favorite friends, of course.

Then this lady came out to sing.

Despite the fact that Mary Poppins is one of my son's favorite movies to watch and he's seen it no less than a dozen times, this was his reaction to her:

He's being kinda rude . . . poor kid. I've never seen him so terrified.

It's a Small World was closed for construction for awhile as they were updated it with the newer movies (i.e., Lilo and Stitch, Toy Story, Nemo, etc.). However, it had just re-opened when we went and I was so grateful! Kid LOVED this one (and therefore we also road it multiple times). I think he liked it because there was so much to see and take in. Oh, and it was also very calm. ha. At any rate, this was a big hit. Would anyone like to sing along with me?

Ah and here we are at the end of the day. Probably should have thought to take this picture a little earlier in the day but nevertheless, the requisite picture was obtained. Thank you very much.

I am an official lover of Disneyland now. Yes, it's true. I'd go again in a heart beat. But since that does mean going to Southern California again, we're probably safe for a little while.

Looks like tons of fun, Carrie! I've been to Disney World once, and I can't wait to go back and take my girlies.

Great pictures! We went to Disneyland for the first time in the fall, and my seven-year-old loved the Pooh ride too. We only went three times though. My four-year-old was the thrill seeker and went with dad on splash mountain and thunder mountain railroad multiple times.

I'm such a huge Disneyland fan! When I went there, for the first time, at the tender age of two and a half, I made my parents ride the Small World ride twelve times. They are only now forgiving me! ;)

Looks like fun! We have yet to take the boys to Disney if you can believe it! We're thinking about it for the not so distant future...

I am SO jealous. Disneyland was one of the funnest vacations I've ever been on. We'd love to take our boys soon.
