Read Aloud Thursday

It's time for another Read Aloud Thursday over at Hope is in the Word!

So what are we reading this week? (FYI, Amy suggested that we might feature Easter titles this week, since we're closing in on that holiday. I readily agreed to hunt down Easter titles at our library. Then I discovered that other moms have already beat me out and there were no books to be found. If you want to know what books we're reading in preparation for Easter, you can look at my post over at 5 Minutes for Books. Those ARE the books we're reading for Easter!)

As I mentioned last week, we're reading above and beyond our current reading levels and mommy's comfort zones. We're stretching ourselves. Thank you, btw, for all of the encouraging comments that you left for us last week! You've spurred me on. It has been rather fun, I have to say!

This week we picked up the following books:

Bookworm1 has really enjoyed the stretch, I think. He asks for me to read the stories and then begins to act them out on the sidelines as I read aloud. For example, when Frog & Toad ended their day's adventure by falling asleep, my little listener suddenly curled up on the floor and started fake snoring. I'm very encouraged by this experiment so far. I'M certainly more entertained by reading more complex stories. I just have to tell myself to press on and keep reading, even when he appears to have lost interest. He always comes back to the book and the story though so I'm happy.

Still reading ahead of our level as a part of the Read Together Challenge which Jennifer is hosting over at Snapshot. Check that out here:

And Happy Reading to you!

We've read a few Harry books and enjoyed them! My girls (so far) haven't showed any interested in Frog and Toad even thought I've checked them out a few times. Maybe as N1 gets where she can read them alone. :)

Oh, yay for you! I'm so glad you're reading Frog and Toad, especially. I love reading about bookworm1's antics, too--the fact that he acts them out shows he's enjoying it and getting something out of it! : )
