L.M. Montgomery Reading Challenge (2011) - What YOU Read!

L. M. Montgomery Reading ChallengeHello, hello! Now it's time to visit around and see what everyone else read and wrote about this past month during the 2011 Lucy Maud Montgomery Reading Challenge.

Honestly, I do hope that you will hop around - and leave comments. Everyone had interesting things to say and interesting perspectives and experiences to share about. Visiting around helps to familiarize yourself with more of Montgomery's works which is part of the point of this whole challenge!

Take a few days, pop around, say hello and see what else you can discover. Enjoy!

All links listed below lead to the person's individual blog posts and blogs.

Amy @ Hope is in the Word read Magic for Marigold, Kilmeny of the Orchard and has a wrap-up post talking about her reading experiences and to remind herself that she really does love Montgomery. I liked hearing about some of her memories and seeing a picture of one of her Anne treasures in her wrap-up post!

Kara @ Home With a Purpose shared her January Montgomery reading experiences with us! She read four new-to-her titles by Montgomery which I was pretty excited to see! (She's in prime condition to start watching the Road to Avonlea series now. Feel free to offer such encouragement...although I don't think she needs it!)

Barbara H. @ Stray Thoughts made her way through more of the Anne series. (She read Anne of Green Gables during last year's challenge.) You can follow the link to her wrap-up post and then click on the link trails to see what she thought of Anne of Avonlea, Anne of the Island and Anne of Windy Poplars.

Page Turner @ Lines from the Page delved into Emily of New Moon for this challenge. I LOVED reading her thoughts and feelings as she made her acquaintance with Emily. PT is going to continue on reading the Emily books post-challenge. Which, of course, I think is awesome.

Jo @ Little House by the Railway Line (created blog title, btw!) read more than she originally planned at the start of the challenge. She ended up reading Emily of New Moon, Kilmeny of the Orchard (which she enjoyed) and Pat of Silver Bush (which she adored). Click on this link to read her wrap-up post which includes the links to her individual thoughts/reviews.

Renee @ A Path of Joy joined us for the first time this year. Her post absolutely DELIGHTS me! She read Anne of Green Gables for the first time and declared it a, "must read at least once in a lifetime" book. Well said, Renee! Well said! She has also been watching (and enjoying) the Emily tv series this month.

Annette @ Live, Learn, Love wrote up several posts which you can enjoy. First, she shared her goals. Then she re-watched Anne of Green Gables: The movie and compared it to the audio book that she listened to. (Great post, btw!) Anette went on to read Anne of Ingleside which was next up for her. Lastly, she read Lucy Maud and the Cavendish Cat (a picture book) with her daughter. I love that she found a unique way to share Anne with her little girl (although it was kind of unintentional.)

Jennifer @ Blogful of Books joined the challenge for the first time. She also read Anne of Green Gables for the first time and shared her thoughts here. Must. Read. This. Post. I loved it! She has plans to read Emily next.

Jen E @ mamablogsalot had some fun this past month! She watched the movie and shared her thoughts. She read Anne of Avonlea (loved reading her thoughts) and then moved on to Anne of the Island. She dutifully read through A of the I before watching Anne of Green Gables: The Sequel but didn't realize a bit of Anne of Windy Poplars was thrown in. (Anne of Windy Poplars being my least favorite of all of the Anne books...I rather don't care.) But her take on the Sequel was interesting to read about seeing that she had just finished reading the books. Check her thoughts out for sure!

Mary Bailey @ Bell Whistle Moon (catch her theme?) read Emily of New Moon. She had a horrifying experience when googling "Emily of New Moon" but you'll have to read her post to learn more about that. (I shudder to think of what literature today has become!)

Anita @ The Next Thousand Days says she is pretty much obsessed with Lucy Maud Montgomery so, of course, I'm glad to have her participating in the challenge. Except for she keeps telling me where she bought her books which makes me green with envy. (ha!) She read The Story Girl, Looking for Anne (which I've not read), The Poetry of Lucy Maud Montgomery, and The Alpine Path. (You can read her thoughts on all of these by clicking on the first link provided.) Anita wrapped up the month with Emily and wrote a very enjoyable post about that character as well.

Beth @ Weavings read through A Tangled Web and The Doctor's Sweetheart (and other stories) during the month.

Stephanie @ Stephanie's Mommy Brain read The Blue Castle out of deference to me. She has a thought on the conclusion of the book which you might be interested to chime in on (if you've read it!) It should be noted that this book is set OFF the Island which makes it stand out among Montgomery's other works. She also found some really cool looking Anne of Green Gables Pop-Up Books which you might take a fancy to. I hadn't heard of them but I'm very curious to get my hands on them!

Amy @ A Faithful Journey made it through Emily of New Moon and the first Anne movie.

Bluerose wasn't able to get to Anne of Green Gables the book but she did watch the first and second movie. She had never seen the movies before making her experience very unique!

Rebekah @ Bekahcubed is always a fun one to have along on a challenge. Here is her opening post, followed by her review of Much Ado About Anne, by Heather Vogel Frederick. She shared her insights on one of my favorite passages in Anne which I'd strongly encourage you to read! She concluded by sharing an Anne project she's working on and I am drooling with envy.

Just Mom @ My Round File wrote a concluding post summarizing what she was able to accomplish this past month. She went ahead and watched the Sequel before reading far enough into the series and so plans to read further and re-watch the movie. (Go offer her your encouragement!)

Serena @ The Hermit of Southern March read Magic for Marigold. She also read The Blue Castle. And she loved it. Everything about it.

Stephanie @ Simple Things re-read the Emily books and watched the first episode of the Emily television series. (She shares her own opinion about that and is a little more detailed than I have been.)

If for some reason you haven't "turned in" your link yet - just stick it in the comment section below.

I hope you all will take some time to visit around and see what others shared and talked about in relation to Montgomery and her works this past month. This is half of the fun! Learning more about an author and her works and making your wish lists for next year.

Hope you enjoy!

I've added to my blog roll considerably through 'Reading to Know' Very cool stuff. I didn't mean to name... er... place drop(? hehe) it's just that the place is connected to the book and my interpretation of it somehow. Especially the novels because the things in the books are real or at least based on real. :)

A bit belated, but I finally finished one book I started for the challenge: Looking for Anne of Green Gables: The Story of L. M. Montgomery and Her Literary Classic:
http://barbarah.wordpress.com/2011/02/12/book-review-looking-for-anne-of-green-gables-the-story-of-l-m-montgomery-and-her-literary-classic/

I'd love to hear what you think, Carrie, since you've read much more about LMM than I have.
