Friday Favorites

Another day, another week, another Friday to look back and be reminded of how blessed I am. This is a good week for personal reminders as it has had its rough moments. Here goes....

#1 - A very fun SPRING celebration with some good friends/family in which we ate yummy foods and enjoyed the changing of the season.

#2 -An overnight date night! The boys enjoyed a wonderful evening away from home with their friends and daddy and mommy enjoyed a quiet evening in. (Take-out dinner and then over to some friends' house for dessert and conversation .) It was a very fun break for all concerned and - I keep saying this because I believe it to be very true - the last "break" will have for awhile once Bookworm3 makes her arrival.

#3 - Another week down! Just a few more weeks to go! We made a daisy chain to count down the days until baby sister arrives and it is with some sense of excitement that we pluck those days away. (Mommy still being the most excited of ALL, of course! Please do not speak to me of patience. Just nod and smile, whether you understand or not.)

#4 - Key lime pie sugar free gum. (It almost sounds disgusting, doesn't it?!)

I'm on a tight diet right now with baby on the way. Hoping to keep her small (!), strong and healthy, I'm avoiding sugars (and salt) for the most part. (Excepting special spring celebrations, of course . . . and certain small moments when I just need a treat and don't really care anymore - which is the point I'm getting to!) One thing that has helped is Extra sugar-free gum's new dessert line. Key lime pie is my favorite. The taste of lime is STRONG and so it actually tastes like the pie. And it stays with you for awhile. That's a positive and a negative point right there, by the way!

#5 - Girl Scout Samoas!!!

I have a box packed away in my hospital bag which I have dutifully not opened up yet, least the temptation to eat the entire box overwhelm me. Shortly after baby makes her exit, these cookies are making their entrance. I have them stashed aside and ready to go! (Pathetic? Perhaps. But after a long sugarless stint, I have to confess I am very much looking forward to them! And you can't NOT eat Girl Scout cookies at least once a year, right!?)

Cheers!

I hope you all have a fabulous weekend!

Glad you got in a final date night. And a daisy chain is a great way to count down the days. Praying for you.

Thin Mints. They're the way to go. :-) So you can keep all the Samoas for yourself.

I readily confess to eating whole boxes of Samoas alone (which is why I only buy one box at a time)!!!

It's almost baby time!! Yay!!!!

I've never had Samoas.

Your post cracked me up.

Glad you got a date night in before Baby comes!

I think Tagalongs are my favorite Girl Scout cookies -- the ones with chocolate and peanut butter.

Amy @ Hope is in the Word - So glad I'm not alone. I can totally polish off the box myself. Which is exactly why I haven't trusted myself to open it.

Lisa Notes - Got a box of Thin Mints as well but those aren't NEARLY as tempting to me. So I can stare at that box without longing. (Those were my favorite when I was a Brownie myself.)

Barbara H. - I'm almost ashamed at this point in my response to say I have a box of Tagalongs too! Jonathan DID open THAT box for me and doles out a cookie or two when the need arises. Then he hides the box so that I can't find it. This system works well in our house. ;D

As you all can see - I have much to anticipate. =D

Hey Carrie! Thanks for stopping by my blog! Over night date night with hubby and visit with friends that's is a good thing.

Thin mint and the peanut butter/chocolate yes, by the box!

A baby Girl on the way (sigh) blessings to you all!

I love the fact you are stashing away those cookies for a celebration after wee little one says hello world. How sweet to add a little sister for the brothers. We had 2 sons and then a little surprise daughter. It's been wonderful. Glad you got an evening alone in before baby arrives...

I have to vote for Thin Mints too. But I think it's great that you chose your favorites and have them stashed and ready to go. The spring celebrations sound like a perfect way to herald in the new season.

What a great treat for yourself for after baby girl arrives! I would have picked the chocolate/peanut butter ones! I love peanut butter a little too much, which is probably why my son is allergic to peanuts, they say. (he had the tendency which was stimulated by my pb consumption during pregnancy and nursing. Who'd a thunk it?)

Your night out sounds terrific. It's good to get one last date night to last you for a good long while!

What a great idea, packing your favorite snack in your go-to hospital bag. I never thought of that ... my choice would have been the thin mints!

I'm glad you had a date night, it will definitely be awhile before another one.

What an exciting time in your life!

Oh those cookies look good. You have the strongest willpower, I so would have ripped that box open by now. I'm hoping that key lime gum is available in Canada.

I remember what a blessing an occasional adult friends night was when my kids were little. So glad you got one before your little one is born.

I'm nodding and smiling...!

How great that you had a date night before the little girl makes her debut. You must be so excited to have a bit of pink in the house. Someday I'll have a granddaughter...!

Take care and rest up! Hope the week ahead is a great one for you.

Nodding and smiling about so many things in this post. :D Spring - love it! Date nights are great! Glad you had a great evening! Yay for baby coming soon! That key lime pie gum is AMAZING. They actually packed a pie into one little slice. And oh, samoas. How I miss you... why aren't you vegan??

I love Samoas too but I did not get any this year, too tempting! That gum sounds yummy too.

I hope the time goes by quickly for you!

Oh.. Samoas are my favorite! I admire your self discipline! It must be so exciting knowing you're getting closer and closer to meeting your sweet girl. I just came home from a nice date night. I'm glad you got one, too.
