Library Book Sale - My Haul

So tonight was the annual Friends of the Library booksale here in town. I've been waiting for this sale for the past year! They have a set price on books ($3 hardbacks, $2 paperbacks, $1 for children's books) regardless of title, book condition, etc. So you can find some real steals. This is what I bought this year:

A nice set of hardback books, copyright prior to 1920, NICE looking old books:
1. Little Men, by L. May Alcott;
2. An Old Fashioned Girl, by L. May Alcott;
3. Rose in Bloom, by L. May Alcott

4. A Long, Fatal Love Chase, by L. May Alcott;
5. Lord of the Silent, by Elizabeth Peters;
6. Mrs. Pollifax and the Golden Triangle, by Dorothy Gilman;
7. Mrs. Pollifax and the Whirling Dervish, by Dorothy Gilman;
8. Crime & Punishment, by Fyodor Dostoyevsky;
9. The Brother's Karamazov, by Fyodor Dostoyevsky;
10. Rob Roy, by Sir Walter Scott;
11. The Importance of Being Earnest, by Oscar Wilde;
12. The Woman in White, by Wilkie Collins;
13. Tuesdays with Morrie, by Mitch Albom;
14. My Friend Flicka, by Mary O'Hara (yes, Sky!)

and mostly for my son (but also for me and our future schooling endeavors):

15. King Arthur;
16. Leanoardo DaVinci, Prince of Painters, by Covelle Newcomb;
17. Harriet Tumban and the Fight Against Slavery, by Bree Burns;
18. Mark Twain? What Kind of Name is That? by Robert Quakenbush
19. Hans Christian Andersen Fairy Tales;
20. The Little Prince, by Antoine de Saint Exupery;
21. Freddy Goes Camping, by Walter R. Brooks;
22. The Lady and the Squire, by Terry Jones;
23. If You're Trying to Teach Kids How to Write, You've Gotta Have This Book!, by Marjorie Frank;

and for the present moment:

24. The Tale of Peter Rabbit, by Beatrix Potter;
25. Clap Your Hands, by Lorinda Bryan Cauley;
26. Miss Suzy, by Miriam Young; and
27. Tumble Me Tumbily, by Karen Baicker (with illustrations by Sam Williams which are too cute!)

And now I am awaiting next year's sale.

Envy, Envy, Covet, Covet. I sooo miss the annual library book sales I went to in Oklahoma City. Congrats on your finds. But now I bet you have the problem of trying to make all those books fit on your bookshelves, right?

(sigh) Will the trials of a bibliophile never end??

OoooooHHooooo, I want your booksale! What a lovely haul! How terribly exciting!
NOW I have to go to the little shop here in town. (It's called Dog-Eared Books, isn't that fantastic? I just hate taking the boys book shopping.. somehow it ends up being like a mud wrestling tournament...)
Do you see what kind of influence you have with my habits?? First cake and now books!

What--a Freddy book? Why would you buy that???? I haven't read that one. Actually, the one I read first, Freddy Goes to the North Pole, is my favorite of the two and a half I've read (we stopped reading the third because we got busy, I think).

Great finds!! I wish I'd been there! I bought Eight Cousins and Rose in Bloom for my 13 yr old sister's birthday present and three weeks later she has already read them both (and loved them). As she pointed out to me on the phone the other day, she would have been done sooner but she had school work and a week long science camp when she didn't get to read.

I found your blog via the Ultimate Blog Party and wanted to say "Hi!". So nice to meet a former homeschool student now grown up. Enjoy reading to that precious little one! Reading aloud with my daughters was one of our most treasured times. It still is and they are 14 and 19 now. I loved reading through your library sale book finds. Great books! That's how we have built our home library; Seven Pillars Book Nook: http://sevenpillarsbooknook.blogspot.com/

God bless you!
