Lucy Maud Montgomery Reading Challenge 2011!

L. M. Montgomery Reading Challenge
Hello, hello and HAPPY NEW YEAR!

It's time again for the THIRD annual Lucy Maud Montgomery Reading Challenge! Am I just a wee bit excited? (Just a wee bit, yes.)
Participating in the challenge this year with jewelry sponsorship is Emma Parker & Co. and their white gold engagement rings and antique engagement rings. These diamond settings are pretty incredible - I love the appearance of gold bridal jewelry! Many thanks to them.

As I've mentioned before, I like kicking the year off with one of my favorite, imaginative authors - L.M. Montgomery. Her works are cozy reads for me and offer an escape to the magical Prince Edward Island. It is a delight to revisit her works and challenge you to either make you first visit, or perhaps visit with some of your old Montgomery friends like Anne, Emily, Jane or Pat.

Today I invite you to leave a comment in the comment section saying that you intend to participate in the challenge. I encouraged you earlier to write up a post on your own blogs stating the following:

a.) You intend to participate.
b.) Listing which of her books you intend to read (or which movies you intend to watch.) Audio books do count, yes.

You have a full month to participate in this challenge. It will conclude on Friday, January 28th at which point you can come back here and share all of your Montgomery-related posts with the rest of us.

(I dislike using Mr. Linky because he sporadically disappears on me. So just leave a comment in the comment section.)

As for what I intend to read this month, I think I'm going to go with the following:

We'll see what I manage to accomplish, but that gives you a list of my goals!

Furthermore, I have a few Montgomery-related giveaways to scatter about over the course of the month so pay attention for those.

In the meantime, I can't wait to find out which of you are willing to accompany me on this journey and I look forward to sharing the fun of it with you!

Here is the code for the button you saw above, should you care to use it in spreading the word.

Hello Carrie,I would love to join you all in this "challenge" - I'm thinking of starting with the odd collection I've gathered from the local fetes - Emily's Quest, the Golden Road and Rainbow Valley - I'll head to the library for the rest of each series. I thought I'd have to wait to read them to my 3 yr old when she's older but now I have an excuse to read them earlier!! Thank you. :)

I'm looking forward to this challenge. I'm only planning to read two books, as I don't want to overwhelm myself and feel stressed, but I may end up re-reading lots of old favourites. My post is here: http://littlehousebytherailwayline.blogspot.com/2011/01/lucy-maud-montgomery-reading-challenge.html

Thanks!

I posted here: http://www.readingtoknow.com/2011/01/lucy-maud-montgomery-reading-challenge.html. I reread the first Anne book last year and want to read at least the next two this month.

Happy reading!

Hi Carrie!! Yes, you have dangled that carrot in front of my nose and I am going to join in this! I have never read any of L.m Montgomery's books....can you believe it? I have seen the movie many times over (and over and over!) and of course, "Road to Avonlea".....so I think I should dive on into the actual books!

I am going to read "Anne of Green Gables" to start and I am hoping to get time to read "The Road to Yesterday". I think I will read Anne of Green Gables with my 8 year old son and use it for our home schooling.

I am looking forward to what everyone has to share!

Since the 1st I am nearly halfway through Anne of Green Gables. I wasn't sure I would like it this much. I'm going to see how many I can get through of The Anne of Green Gables Novels by January 28!

Hi Carrie,

I look forward to reading your thoughts about /The Blythes Are Quoted/! You might also be interested in a restored and unabridged edition of /Rilla of Ingleside/, which was released this fall in Canada. Find more about it here.

Cheers,

Ben

I'm in. I'm wondering about your thoughts on Anne Pop-Up books... I couldn't resist the temptation to see what they are like. And I'm reading The Blue Castle so I understand your business name. :)

I'm late to the game, but count me in! I read the Anne books in my teens and loved them. I owned the entire set but gave them to my husband's little cousin when we first got married. I'm pretty sure she didn't appreciate them!

Anyway, I didn't want to miss the fun of this challenge, so I just ordered "Emily of New Moon" off PaperbackSwap! I've never read the Emily books before.

I found this challenge via Just Mom...and considering I just downloaded Anne of GG onto my brand new NOOK, I must participate! I probably will only be able to squeeze one LMM by 1/28, but that is better than nothing!
Thanks for hosting!

I really need to go over a list of her complete works and mark off what I still need to read. I've never even heard of The Blythes Are Quoted, and, oh my, I MUST get my hands on it now!

It sounds fun to be in this challenge. I would like to read as many as I can. Guess a visit to the library is in order. I'll save Anne of Green Gables until I've won it. I am posting your blog to my blog as soon as I finish my comment Thank you for this challenge. I'm glad to meet you, Carrie, and joined your blog - this is my first visit here.

Please count me in as well! I love Montgomery and it's been too long since I've read the books of Emily and Pat. And I must re-read my favorite: Blue Castle. Thank you for hosting this challenge!

Whew! I finished Les Miserables in time to join! I hope to read the Emily books, and I'm looking forward to returning to Prince Edward Island - a welcome respite after spending four weeks immersed in 19th century Paris. My initial post is here.

Okay...reading your blog got me interested, and I just got myself the entire Anne series. Can't wait for it to be delivered and I can start reading! :-)

What a fun challenge. I just found this too late to join in this time, though we did watch a lot of the Avonlea series on DVD this month. I'll be reading recommendations to add to my reading list.

Kim said...

I am in! It has been years since I have read any 'Anne" books. I will begin with Anne of Green Gables (aloud to my boys) + the DVD. If I can find The Blythes are Quoted, I will read that. Otherwise, Anne of Avonlea. Looking forward to it. Thank you.
